Texas Pepper Jelly Father’s Day Giveaway

Do you like jelly?  Do you like spicy hot jelly?  I love it!  Many people around the country are catching on to the great flavor of really good pepper jelly.  The good folks at Texas Pepper Jelly make one of the best products you can buy.  Texas Pepper Jelly makes a great Father’s Day Gift!  I have purchased Texas Pepper Jelly for years but for the purpose of this review they did send me some sample to use.   The first thing you need to know about Texas Pepper Jelly is that the Pepper Jelly is all about BBQ.  Owner and CEO Craig Sharry is avid BBQ enthusiast and competes on the national BBQ circuit.  He wins big too!  Craig was named the 2011 overall Grand Champion of the Houston’s Livestock Show and Rodeo’s World Champion BBQ Cook-off out of 241 teams competing.  Craig uses his own products on his BBQ!  Texas Pepper Jelly is the secret weapon of many BBQ professionals as well.

There are many flavors that Texas Pepper Jelly sells on its website.  We used Texas Tropical jelly which is a blend of Mango, Papaya and Strawberry and of course Habanero peppers.  The other jelly we used was Apricot Pepper Jelly which is one of my favorites!   There are many different flavors available which are unique and diverse.  They all taste incredible!

I love great BBQ and could talk about it forever but I want to show what else you can do with Texas Pepper Jelly. When you think of jelly you think of what you would typically put on toast or a biscuit.  Why that is true it is easy to glaze a rib or just about anything else with the pepper jelly.  That’s why it is so popular with so many people.  Almost all of Texas Pepper Jelly products contain Habanero peppers which are hot, but mixed with the sweetness of the jelly gives a nice, sweet burn. The fruit flavors are just incredible!!!  This won’t set you mouth on fire for an hour, but you will know it is warm.   You can thin the jelly down a little by mixing in a little corn syrup or vinegar in a blender,  not too much though!  When I glaze my BBQ ribs I usually set a little jelly out in a bowl for about 30 minutes, stir it up a little  and then just brush on your ribs about 30 minutes before you pull them off, just perfect!

So you can put pepper jelly on ribs that will blow the socks off your guests at your next backyard BBQ or you can put pepper jelly on cream cheese and make an incredible dip…but what else can you do with it?  You would be surprised how many different items you can find to put pepper jelly on.  What I typically do is mix a little bit of apple cider vinegar with the jelly and put it in a blender or food processor.  Just blend to your desired consistency for what you want to apply to your food items.

Chicken Wings! Pepper jelly makes an incredible glaze for chicken wings.  Just like the ribs apply the jelly to the chicken about the last 10 minutes of grilling.  I almost baste my pepper jelly sauce on the wings.  I used the Texas tropical for the chicken glaze.  The results are a sweet and unique, peppery glaze.  The Papaya, Strawberries and Mango really were distinct and so good!

Shrimp!  Love eating Shrimp with steak or just about anything.  Just brush on pepper jelly and you have some sweet and spicy shrimp!

Corn on the Cob is best with pepper jelly. Yep, we love pepper jelly on our corn on the cob.  I used the apricot jelly and it works just great.  Forget the butter!  Just brush a little jelly on and it works great.  Again, we mixed in a blender with just a little apple cider vinegar but you don’t have to.  You can just apply the jelly direct if you want.

Salad Dressing.  Probably our favorite way to eat pepper jelly is to make salad dressing.  Just like before mixed in a blender with a little cider vinegar and you can create an unbelievable hot, sweet and spicy salad dressing that will amaze your family and friends when you have them over.

Dipping sauce.  When it’s almost all gone we find ourselves dipping bread in the leftovers….french bread baguettes work great!

We will be doing two giveaways this week for Texas Pepper jelly give packs.
