Spring is a time for new commitments. We vow to get out more, to reconnect, and to renew our goals. So how about this one: With elephants facing some of the toughest times they’ve ever seen, commit to helping them by signing up for next month’s WCS Run for the Wild. It’s also a great way to follow through on those first two vows!
Sign up by March 20th—the official first day of spring—and receive $5 off your registration fee. (Note to Members: your registration fee is always discounted.)
As with each WCS Run for the Wild, this event is open to runners and walkers alike. Registration includes:
- Free all-day access to the Bronx Zoo
- Staggered starts for runners and walkers/ families
- Free t-shirt for registered children
- A host of great prizes for fundraisers of all levels, including a t-shirt, a soft plush elephant, snow globe, gift cards, a tote bag, and even an animal experience with one of the residents of the zoo!
Best of all, your efforts will directly benefit elephants and other threatened wildlife around the globe and at the Bronx Zoo.
Did you know that both Asian and African elephants are threatened species? Their numbers have plummeted in recent years, and brand new findings published by WCS and our partners show that a staggering 62 percent of all forest elephants in Central Africa have been killed for their ivory over the past decade.
We hope you’ll help by joining us at the Bronx Zoo on April 27th! Your support will help WCS continue our successful anti-poaching tactics to protect key sites where elephants are at risk and give them a fighting chance for survival.
