Cooking Matters App is a Part of the No Kid Hungry Campaign to End Childhood Hunger in America
McLean, Virginia, June 18, 2013 – NavigationArts, a Digital Agency centered in User Experience is thrilled to announce the launch of the No Kid Hungry campaign’s Cooking Matters mobile application. Cooking Matters has 20 years of experience empowering families with the skills to make delicious, affordable and healthy meals through hands-on cooking courses and grocery store tours taught by chefs and nutritionists.
In the spirit of corporate giving, NavigationArts volunteered to assist with the natural progression of the No Kid Hungry campaign in the digital age by building a mobile application that provides easy access to recipes for healthy meals on a budget. The Cooking Matters application allows users to filter recipes by categories, like diabetes-friendly, one-dish meals, kid-approved and search over 90 chef-developed meals. While exploring detailed nutrition information, the recipes have visually stimulating photos to tempt your tastebuds.
“This app brings the time-tested lessons of our program into the home and proves that you don’t have to break the bank to eat a healthy, delicious meal,” said Chef Greg Silverman, Director of Cooking Matters at the Store. “One lesson learned on our grocery store tours is that a family of four really can eat a balanced meal on just $10. With this app, all parents can have these tools and recipes at their fingertips.”
With rapidly increasing digital disparities around accessibility, numbers of low-income Americans are using smartphones as their primary or only means of accessing the Internet, according to surveys by the Pew Research Center. This makes reaching families via mobile applications an integral part of the No Kid Hungry campaign’s mission to provide education on proper nutrition and healthy eating.
“NavigationArts is proud to have partnered with the No Kid Hungry campaign on their critical initiative to end childhood hunger,” said Leo Mullen, NavigationArts’s CEO. “The rewards for offering our insight on evolving digital trends and strategy in order leverage a mobile app that goes out into the community and directly helps children vastly outweighs any other.”
