The $35 Rasberry Pi was game changing when it first came out. Now there’s a new kid on the block: CHIP. The Kickstarter campaign has already surpassed its $50,000 goal ($950,000 as of time of writing). CHIP is a fully functional computer like the Pi, but CHIP is smaller and more powerful (about the size of a Zippo lighter). It’s packing a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, 802.11B/G/N WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. The campaign is also producing “PocketCHIP” which makes the whole thing portable. The external case gives CHIP a 4.3″ touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, and 5 hour battery (it looks like a BlackBerry).
I’m not easily impressed by most Kickstarter projects, but this looks very promising.
