Today, September 11th, marks the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. To honor and remember the events of that day, EarthCam will be sharing a commemorative panorama of the New York City skyline including the Tribute in Light, captured by its newest technology, the GigapixelCam X1.
From across the Hudson River in Jersey City, EarthCam’s newest hybrid broadcast camera – featuring 4K live video and gigapixel imagery for print, broadcast and web – will begin to scan the city skyline tonight at 8:46pm ET, exactly 16 years and 12 hours after the first plane was recorded striking the North tower. The commemorative 5 gigapixel panorama is composed of more than 800 4K-quality images built by EarthCam’s state-of-the-art photo technology, making it a perfect complement for TV and web broadcasts.
