Facebook announced that it’s shutting down its Trending topics section because “people found the product to be less and less useful.” While that is definitely true, I’m pretty sure* Facebook shut down Trending topics because it was the longest-running joke on Twitter, a place where trending topics are, you know, actually trending.
You see, Facebook’s Trending topics have routinely been a full day (or more) behind Twitter. It would be like someone who gets all of their news on network TV at 6:30 every night trying to keep you informed during the day.
So while Facebook is killing off Trending topics, it’s likely a lot will remain the same for users on the platform. I do expect to see a change in the number of Facebook jokes on Twitter. Those will definitely go up.
I’m writing on this topic these days, safetoto, but I have stopped writing because there is no reference material. Then I accidentally found your article. I can refer to a variety of materials, so I think the work I was preparing will work! Thank you for your efforts.
