Last week Facebook is introducing a range of new music-related features to its platform.

“Sometimes the right words to fit your mood, feeling, or personality can be hard to find,” the company stated in a blog post.

To solve this apparent problem, Facebook will be implementing a Music feature in Stories, adding lyrics to Lip Sync Live and allow the use of songs in profiles.

Music in Facebook Stories

The Music feature for Facebook Stories is similar to Instagram’s. With it you will be able to add songs to your Story updates from a library of music, and a sticker will be added to credit the artist.

“And, we’re bringing it to News Feed, too! Just take a photo or video from the Facebook Camera or grab one from your camera roll,” the company further revealed.

Lip Sync Live

Because TikTok is all the rage right now, Lip Sync Live is opening up “to more artists and creators by expanding to Pages, giving them more ways to connect with their fans,” the company added.

Lip Sync Live, which was launched on the platform back in June, allows users to sing along to songs from Facebook’s music library through the app’s camera.

Unfortunately, this feature is not available globally but, in addition to adding Lip Sync to Pages, users will now also get lyrics for select songs to help them sing along.

Pin your favorite songs to your profile

When it comes to user profiles though, if adding a video instead of a simple profile picture wasn’t enough, soon we can all add our favourite songs too.

“You can also pin a song to the top of your profile to share with friends and help them learn more about you,” the company said.

“Songs added to your profile will also visually showcase the artist and track you choose. When someone plays a song on your profile, they’ll hear a clip of the song and see an accompanying video featuring photos of the artists and album art.”

The latter feature is still in development, but we can’t deny that soon Facebook will not only be seen, but also heard by billions of people worldwide.
