We already have Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus, and now ViacomCBS is reportedly planning to rename its streaming services as Paramount Plus.
The company is considering renaming its CBS All Access streamer with the new title as it looks to amalgamate content from its Viacom and Paramount divisions.
According to the Financial Times, the company wants to create a “super service” to take on the likes of Netflix and Disney Plus. It would include content from across TV networks as well as the Paramount film studio.
The paper says ViacomCBS bosses are considering the name change because the CBS brand tends to appeal “to a mainly older audience.” It adds Paramount Plus is top of the shortlist but a final decision has yet to be made.
ViacomCBS already has a Paramount Plus streaming service, which is available in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Hungary.
The FT also suggests the move could be because ViacomCBS chairwoman Shari Redstone has a “more open mind” to a potential sale.
