The PS5 has been restocked at numerous major retailers over the past few weeks, including Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and PS Direct. The systems are still incredibly hard to find, though, since when they do briefly appear in stock they’re selling out just as quickly. Right now both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital edition are sold out at all major retailers. As we approach the new year, we’re keeping an eye out for restocks.

We’ll be updating this guide as PS5 units go on sale–just be aware that if you want one, you’ll have to be quick, and potentially open to purchasing a bundle with games and accessories that you may or may not want. If you want to receive one relatively soon, those are the sort of concessions you need to make. With any luck, you’ll find a bundle that contains mostly relevant items.

Where to buy the PS5

The PS5 and PS5 Digital sell for $500 and $400, respectively.

PS5 availability at PlayStation Direct

PlayStation Direct regularly opens up a queue for shoppers to buy the PS5 (and anything else on the first-party site), but it’s often over an hour wait and unclear if the PS5 is even available. Still, it’s worth checking PS Direct regularly, as it’s the only store still releasing the PS5 on a somewhat regular basis. However, the queues appear to also be somewhat random.

Note that finding a queue on PS Direct doesn’t necessarily mean the PS5 is in stock; it simply indicates high traffic to the store. It never hurts to jump in and wait if you find the queue and you’ll be at your computer for a while, but know there’s no guarantee it’ll be in stock by the time you get through.

PS5 availability at GameStop

We don’t know when you’ll be able to buy a PS5 from GameStop again. The most recent restock happened on December 18, and GameStop had both the PS5 and PS5 Digital edition available as standalone purchases and in pricier bundles.

Walmart last had the PS5, along with other next-gen systems, on its website the afternoon of December 17. For these restocks, it provided more systems every 10 minutes for about half an hour, providing customers with numerous chances to get one. It seemed to work, and we were actually able to order one on the Walmart app despite bots quickly scooping up as many orders as they could. However, these orders aren’t scheduled to arrive until January 8. They could arrive sooner, but you shouldn’t count on them being ready for Christmas.

PS5 availability at Best Buy

Best Buy had the PS5 in stock on December 21, but it sold out extremely fast. We don’t know when the next restock will happen.

Best Buy has confirmed it will not have any PS5 units in stores throughout the entire holiday season, so you won’t need to be visiting any Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores in the hopes of finding a PS5 on shelves until 2021. However, it has told prospective customers that more systems are coming. When that happens to be remains to be seen, but the store typically uses a queue system once they come online. This can help to deter bots, but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to get one.
