This year New Yorkers can celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day either virtually or in-person.

Here are a few events in the city happening on Monday:

  • MLK Serve-A-Thon Virtual: Jan. 18, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. & Jan. 19, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Hunger Free America is hosting its 20th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Serve-A-Thon. The event features two days of virtual workshops focused on food justice and intersectionality. The workshop will discuss hunger and social issues including public health and racial injustice. There will also be a virtual service project. Participants must pre-register ahead of time online.

  • Harlem Gospel Choir Virtual: A Celebration of MLK Jr. Jan. 18, 3 p.m.

This year, the famed Harlem Gospel Choir will host their MLK Day show online. The choir will be performing contemporary gospel with a fusion of jazz and blues from Sony Hall in Manhattan. Tickets cost $25. The show will also be available on-demand until Jan. 25.

  • Integral Yoga New York – Dream Walk: Jan. 18, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Integral Yoga New York is celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with an online Yoga workshop that combines floor-based yoga, breathwork, and guided meditation accompanied by live cello. The workshop aims to give participants an opportunity to embrace their soul in a collective healing journey of the past, present, and future.
