This morning, the Emmy Awards dropped the full 2021 nominations list. Some of your fave shows probably made the cut— The Crown, The Mandalorian, and WandaVision were big names.
But underneath friendly competition between these shows is a nasty one between networks. Or should we say… streaming services??
Just like past years, streaming services continue to dominate the Emmys. HBO/HBO Max led with 130 nominations, Netflix fetched 129, and Disney+ earned 71.
330 nominations for streaming players outweigh the 95 from “legacy” networks like NBC (46), CBS (26), and ABC (23). These results show tech is slowly turning the Television Academy into the Streaming Academy.
