Which app do Americans most want to delete from their phones? Instagram.
Security website VPNOverview analyzed the internet search trends for the 30 most popular apps to see which ones people were most interested in dumping.
It found more than 900,000 searches over a recent six-month period on how to “delete” or “deactivate” Instagram, the highest search volume of any app.
Facebook was a distant second with 385,410 searches, then Snapchat at 217,400 and Twitter at 92,490.
TikTok, on the other hand, had just 14,120 searches.
But the search volume isn’t as damning as it may appear.
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are the apps Americans use the most and are on most people’s phones.
In fact, TikTok was the most downloaded app globally and in the U.S. in 2022, according to BusinessofApps. Instagram was the second-most downloaded app.
If you’re ready to break it off with Instagram, you have two choices: Make a permanent break (delete your Instagram account forever with no givebacks) or take a temporary break (deactivate your Instagram account with the option of coming back later).
