On February 2, 2024, art and jewelry broker Sotheby’s will sell a six-shoe Air Jordan collection dubbed the ‘Dynasty Collection’.
It will be the centerpiece of a live auction dubbed ‘The One,’ which, according to the company, features “exceptional objects that exemplify human ingenuity, achievement, and excellence.” For sneakerheads and basketball collectors, it is the holy grail of sneaker collection.
The set, which Sotheby’s described as ‘the most valuable and significant collection of Air Jordan Sneakers ever brought to market’ is composed of six individual shoes, not pairs, worn by Michael Jordan in the six games where the Bulls clinched each of their six NBA championships.
The Dynasty Collection includes — an “Infrared” Air Jordan 6 (1991), a “Charcoal” Air Jordan 7 (1992), a “Playoffs” Air Jordan 8 (1993), a “Bred” Air Jordan 11 (1996), a “Playoffs” Air Jordan 12 (1997) and a “Last Shot” Air Jordan 14 (1998). These were first made public for the first time in July 2022 as an exhibit at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Now it is expected to fetch $7 to $10 million in next month’s auction.
