Throw a Winning Super Bowl Party with Newcastle Brown Ale

What are you eating for this year’s Super Bowl?  Or, rather what are you drinking?  Newcastle Brown  Ale or Newcastle Winter IPA is the perfect beer to go with your Super Bowl dishes!  Let’s face it, unless you are a fan of the two teams playing which most of us aren’t, the Super Bowl is a big day to eat, drink and party.  Folks get their Super Bowl menu “game plan” made weeks in advance.  Newcastle is an iconic British brewery that has been making its famous Brown Ale or “Newkie Bown” as the Brits say since 1927.   A newcomer to the Newcastle line is the Winter IPA.  The good thing about both of these beers is that they will pair up great with Super Bowl party food!

The Brown Ale is dark mahogany in color with tastes of caramel, burnt sugar, malt and a little sweetness of chocolate.  It’s a beer that was made to go great with anything served off the grill like steak or fajitas.  Leave the sauce at home because the flavors of this beer with greatly enhance the natural flavors of the food.  You will love this beer with your steak!

The Newcastle Winter IPA is one of my favorites!  This is a true British Style IPA.  IPA’s go great with anything off the grill as well as fried foods.  So when you serve those onion rings, fried mushrooms or pickles, make sure your Winter IPA is in reach.  We are planning Angus Sliders with caramelized onions, mushroom and Swiss cheese.  The Winter IPA will perfectly blend and enhance those carmelizations (that’s my word!).  A true treat!  A Super Bowl party is not complete without wings.  I use a buttermilk soak overnight on my wings and then a salt, pepper and  Ancho chili rub.   Brush on some a Mango – Habanero glaze after they are about 75% cooked on the grill and you’re in business.  The IPA flavors will be a perfect pairing for the wings as well.  It will really bring out the mango/Habanero flavors.  Here is a picture of our pre-Super Bowl tasting.

Love the Brown Ale because it goes great with BACON 😉

Yes and BACON goes great with EVERYTHING! 🙂 The Winter IPA was excellent…not has strong as some but very smooth. Hard to beat the brown ale though!
