The film follows marathon world record holder and three-time Olympic medalist Eliud Kipchoge.

Kipchoge has dominated the running world for over 18 years and in an October 12, 2019 event in Vienna, the Kenyan marathoner became the first person in history to run 26.2 miles in under two hours,  finishing at 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds with a sub-4 min, 34 second-per-mile pace. With unprecedented access to Kipchoge, the documentary follows this record-shattering and awe-inspiring feat as well as his 2016 Olympic gold medal triumph.

KIPCHOGE: THE LAST MILESTONE takes a more personal look at the athlete with footage from Kipchoge’s home in Kenya, interviews with those closest to him, the daily rituals of his life and the dynamics within his team and community.

Kipchoge most recently competed and won at a comfortable 2:04:30 finish at the NN Mission Marathon on April 18, 2021. Although a qualifying event for athletes looking to participate in the Olympics, Kipchoge (who is already locked for the Kenyan Olympic team) used the race to test his fitness ahead of the summer 2021 Tokyo event and to redeem himself after his surprising defeat at the London Marathon last fall (finishing in 8thplace). Kipchoge’s time at the event is the fastest in the world this year and has sent a clear message that he is still the one to beat for gold in Tokyo.

KIPCHOGE: THE LAST MILESTONE is from director Jake Scott (American Woman) with Ridley Scott (The Martian) serving as executive producer and is planned for release on August 24 by Universal Pictures Content Group.
