Robert Saleh agreed in principle to become the next head coach of the Jets, the team announced Thursday night.

The San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator interviewed with Jets CEO Christoper Johnson and GM Joe Douglas this week.

Saleh, 41, was part of a “wide net” of interviews done by the team, with nine candidates being interviewed. He also met with the Falcons, Lions, Chargers and Jaguars.

According to ESPN, Saleh is expected to bring 49ers passing game coordinator Mike LaFleur with him to New York as an offensive coordinator.
