When Tiffany Polk’s son was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, she immediately sprang into action and founded two businesses to raise awareness for her son’s disease. With that same mindset, Polk has now authored a book to help reach other children with health conditions and disabilities. “Watching my son show tremendous strength in the face of so many obstacles inspired me to share his story with other children,” Polk says.

In Kace and the Magic Baseball Mitt, Kace is a little boy battling sickle cell disease. He loves baseball and longs to play as part of a team, but the perception that his disease will keep him from playing well threatens to keep him off the field. With the help of a little magic, Kace’s courage and determination is restored and he proves the naysayers wrong by demonstrating he has the ability to overcome his disability.

Polk aims to illustrate how children are more than their disease or disability. “Kace is not defined by his condition,” says Polk. “I want his story to remind children that they can do anything they put their minds to.” Kace and the Magic Baseball Mitt is available for purchase online at Amazon.com.
